Our collaborative team is incredibly honored to be the recipient of important funding needed to assist with our mental wellness initiatives as well as our overall goals as an organization.

One of our anchor initiatives these funds will assist is Redline Rescue. The Collaborative Mental Wellness team has created a comprehensive approach to assist in answering the PTSD mental wellness challenges for the fire service and beyond. “Beyond” because the system can be modified to embrace the similar challenges found in law enforcement, military and other first responders personnel.

Decision makers for Ten8 met with us in December of 2017 as they considered our approach in collaboration, prevention and education to be worthy of funding due to their company’s common goals to positively affect the health and longevity of our fire service personnel.

Coral Springs Fire Department hosted our last 2 day Clinician Awareness Training class. This Clinician Awareness Class was designed to give clinician's an understanding of Firefighter culture, lingo, lifestyle and details about what the job entails. This training included both classroom and live scenarios, including wearing turnout gear, watching a live burn training scenario performed by firefighters and visiting fire stations, as many of them have never been inside of one. They also got the opportunity to talk with Firefighters both at the stations and the training ground. The class was well received and all clinicians that attended left with a better appreciation for the role of firefighters and the special stress they are under.

Violence against first responders continues is a constant threat these days. It is important to continually size up your response policies and collaborate with local law enforcement to make sure that your policies and procedures are effective and not outdated.
